Processing  occurs in the analogue domain, on professional audio industry hardware equipment, with digital outboard processing, and the use of various software plugins for limiting, metering, audio analysis and restoration.  What is Mastering ?  The purpose of  mastering  is to balance sonic elements of a stereo mix and optimize playback across all systems and media formats. Traditionally,  mastering  is done using tools like equalization, compression, limiting and stereo enhancement. We perceive mastering as a way of framing, finishing and perfecting the hard creative work of songwriters/composers/bands or solo artists for commercial release.  Does mastering my music make and difference?  Think of recorded and mixed tracks as 70-80% of the music.
