What do we do at Simon Scott Mastering?
Processing occurs in the analogue domain, on professional audio industry hardware equipment, with digital outboard processing, and the use of various software plugins for limiting, metering, audio analysis and restoration.
What is Mastering?
The purpose of mastering is to balance sonic elements of a stereo mix and optimize playback across all systems and media formats. Traditionally, mastering is done using tools like equalization, compression, limiting and stereo enhancement. We perceive mastering as a way of framing, finishing and perfecting the hard creative work of songwriters/composers/bands or solo artists for commercial release.
Does mastering my music make and difference?
Think of recorded and mixed tracks as 70-80% of the music. The last 20-30, which is mastering, finalises your music to a releasable professional quality.

SPS Mastering Rates
Vinyl + CD + Digital Download + Cassette Mastering Rates 2022:
One track, up to five minutes of audio to master, starts at £75.00 (GBP) with no set up fee for digital or CD releases. ONE free mastering revision.
^ tracks over 5 minutes have an additional and negotiable rate.
All prices include master files, optional DDP with embedded metadata, such as ISRC codes and other info, and the delivery of Wav files (for vinyl, cassette and digital downloads) with no additional set up costs for CD, digital download or cassette.
Vinyl Mastering rates 2022:
£75.00 per five minutes of audio (same as CD, digital, or cassette). Vinyl mastering template set up is £100.00 per side of 12" vinyl (£200.00 for a 12" vinyl release, or £400.00 if double 12" vinyl).
7" singles cost £50.00 as a set up cost (plus audio mastering at £75.00 per five minutes of audio). 10" vinyl cost is £75.00).
I offer a 'multiple format discount': one format is £75.00 (up to five minutes of audio to master) and an additional master is £200. For example, a 50 minute vinyl master is £750.00 plus an additional CD and/or cassette master is £200.00. Total £950.00. Or a CD at 50 minutes total is £750, plus vinyl mastering is £200.00 only (= a total of £950.00).
